Affiliate of the Month-Sensei Dulce Picture 2015 250x348Washington Shotokan Association (WSA) was founded by Sensei Andre’ Dulce, 7th Degree, on Oct. 1, 1973 and is a nonprofit karate organization in the State of Washington. WSA has grown and prospered throughout the years in the Seattle – Bellevue area. With many satellite locations the WSA membership has continued to expand its karate membership over the years. The WSA headquarters has a beautiful floating oak training floor (65’ X 55’) with mirrors. It also has separate dressing rooms and showers for both men and women. The unique metal Shotokan emblem sculpture, the centerpiece of the shomen wall, measures 8’ in diameter; while the inner metal circle measures 5’ in diameter with the metal Shotokan tiger superimposed on it! You are welcome to visit this traditional karate dojo! All karate classes are formal, strict and friendly! All of the WSA instructors, many who have professional careers (physicians, attorneys, IT engineers, architects) volunteer their services!
00 aaa Sensei-Shihan-Sensei KyleSensei Andre’ Dulce has been under the tutelage of Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi since 1960 starting in Honolulu, Hawaii. At that time, Shihan K. Funakoshi was the Head Instructor of the Karate Association of Hawaii. Sensei Dulce studied Kenpo under Benny Lagrimas and Wado-Ryu karate under Sensei Nariyoshi before switching to the Karate Association of Hawaii. He then moved to Seattle, Washington and founded WSA – mainly as a hobby; not knowing that it would become a full-time martial arts career. He also practiced kendo and is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Iaido .He has since turned the WSA operations & leadership over to the ranking WSA Black Belts (WSA Board of Trustees) and now serves as an advisor.

For the past 46 years, Sensei Andre’ Dulce has been a loyal student of Shihan Kenneth and hopes that the WSA Board of Trustees will continue to do the same!
