Karate-Do Portugal (KPS) is a Portuguese National Organization with over 700 students and 35 affiliated clubs.

In 1997, KPS joined FSKA, and the Technical Committee of the KPS attended the first seminar with Shihan Funakoshi in Crawley, England in 1998. Karate-Do Portugal members participated in the 1st European Championship held in Wroclaw, Poland. Since that time, KPS members have participated in many FSKA World Championships, including England, United States, Latvia, Italy, and Poland
. KPS representatives will be participating in the 17th World FSKA Cup in South Africa.

KPS has been honored to sponsor and organize two FSKA World Championships in Almada City, Portugal. The first World Championship in 2000 was attended by 900 representatives from 26 countries. The 2014 World Championship was attended by 700 representatives from 16 countries.

KPS has sponsored and organized 13 International Seminars led by Shihan Funakoshi during the 18 years that KPS has been a member of FSKA. Shihan’s support and friendship has been very important to our development in the Art of Shotokan Karate.

Kiyoshi Jose Chagas, 7th Dan is the Technical Director for KPS. Our instructors are Alfredo Henriques, Cristina Amaral Mendes, Cesar Olival and Jose Lemos and each of these instructors are 6th Dan (Rokudan) rank; Paolo Cruz is 5th Dan (Godan).
