Sensei Aaron Booker started studying martial arts when he was about 6 years old and he trained off and on through his youth. It wasn’t until he was in his late teens that he started seriously training in the traditional style of Shotokan Karate.
At that time, a black belt visiting his local dojo suggested that he should check out the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association (FSKA) dojo. He met Soke (at the time Shihan) Kenneth Funakoshi, liked his style of teaching, and began training at FSKA shortly thereafter. Under Soke Funakoshi’s direction and the guidance of Shihan Kyle, he won several 1st place titles when he was competing, both locally and internationally.
He began teaching with Shihan Kyle Funakoshi in 1994 and still teaches with him. He had the opportunity to accompany Soke Kenneth Funakoshi on some of his travels abroad and assisted him with teaching seminars. He has also helped teachseminars here locally with Shihan Kyle Funakoshi. In addition he has assisted Shihan Kyle prepare and demonstrate bunkai (self-defense) applications. Sensei Booker also officiates at local and international tournaments
